Austin’s Newest Petsitter

You’re lookin at her!

I was planning on opening my own petsitting business, especially since the apartments I live in are part of 8 other apartments all on the same road and are extremely pet friendly. Then I found out someone else had that genius idea years ago. Figured if I can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!

So I emailed Momma Dog’s Pet Sit telling them this and it turned out they were in desperate need of a replacement, as well as someone to handle the finances (well guess who has a Finance degree!) and scheduling. One very informal “interview” in my yoga attire and ta-da!

I’ve also emailed a few animal trainers in Austin to see if they will take me on as an apprenticeship while I get my national certification and so far one company has gotten back to me.

Yeehaw!

Can’t wait to start down this path and see if it’s right for me…and hopefully learn a lot along the way.

I pretty much couldn’t be doing something less corporate…and I’m so excited.

omg, congrats! that sounds fantastic! i’m so happy for you that you’re on the path to doing what you love.
ps. i tried really hard to participate in blog it on last month. in fact, i’m going to blog about it soon. i went to a shelter with my brother to walk dogs there, and we were rejected because they were having an adoption event at a nearby park. we tried to go to a second shelter, and they said we needed to take a training class before walking the dogs, but i had a bridal fitting to get to. needless to say, now that the wedding’s over, i’m going to get my butt in gear and go back there.

  2. Awesome! Congrats! Can’t wait to hear more about it.

  3. Maybe I’m naive, but that sounds like a seriously FUN job! I look forward to hearing all about it. Reminds me of In Her Shoes when she quits her job at the law firm and starts walking dogs. I always thought that sounded like an excellent plan. :-)

RIGHT? Hanging out with dogs and cats all day, gettin sweaty and burning off calories? Bring it on!
And that’s exactly what folks always tell me – that it reminds them of some movie or another. Whoo! I’m that person. Love it.

OMG! I LOVE IT!!! Congrats Sandhya! I’m all about people doing what they love so that they can truly work to live as opposed to live to work. I applaud you for this.

I too am an animal lover and regularly petsit for friends. You will love it!

I’m with the Non-Student…this totes sounds like In Her Shoes!
