(Inspired by: http://www.etni.org.il/farside/resignation.htm)
I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an employee.
I want to wear boxers all day long.
I want to lose those last 5 pounds that have evaded me.
I want to skip the commute.
I want my meetings to be of the furry kind that take place on the couch.
I want to watch Ellen every day.
I want to get my life organized and efficient.
I want to get through the night without a Blackberry waking me up (a Blackkitty is quite welcome. As is a Bengal one.)
I want to use my new sewing machine to create.
I want to work by my own schedule.
I want to fly only for pleasure.
I want to enjoy the weather, not just talk about it in the breakroom.
I want to take Spanish and yoga and entrepreneurial and pole dancing classes and learn everything there is about everything.
I want to volunteer.
I want to have margaritas at lunch. And at 3 PM. And possibly as a mid morning pick-me-up.
I want a full 8 hours of sleep every night.
I want to start my own Project 365.
I want to do things with my hands that don’t include a computer.
I want to wake up every day next to my love in our bed of furbabies instead of in a hotel room.
I want to become an animal trainer and a party planner and an internet connoisseur.
I want to have picnics and ride a bike I don’t yet have.
I want to feel liberated.
I want to get a purebred, male German Shepherd named Trigger and teach him to live up to his name.
I want renew my motivations.
Therefore, here is my badge. Here is my Blackberry, my laptop (don’t worry, I’ll get a much cuter one), and my Corporate Amex (I’ll just take the points thankyouverymuch).
And here is my resignation.
As of May 5, I will no longer have a job (Happy Drinko de Mayo to me!). Actually neither will Bear as we were each other’s catalyst in this leap of faith.
Scary and wonderful.
We can’t wait.
