crouching tiger two-finger ring giveaway

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Lately I haven’t been wearing much jewelry with my outfits….and I think that might be out of boredom. I’m just tired of the stuff I have and ever since I did my post on the Two-Finger rings I have been craving this one from FashionableRx over at Etsy:

FUN, right?

Ansa has graciously offered to give one away! I’m so jealous I can’t win this.

(it’s a poem)

If you follow me on Twitter you know that Friday afternoon Bear and I spent time on a jigsaw puzzle….and then went out to Bingo with friends that night. I dressed up for Bingo in an effort to feel less like I was 87. Don’t worry, we all had drinks after to remind us we’re still in our 20′s.

< Supersoft dress from F21, $10; Bag from H&M, under $10. It’s this fun foldover purse that I fell in love with. >

<These shoes are surprisingly comfy. They were about $10 from the Nine West outlet. And I’m totally digging this summery orange/pink OPI shade I found at my cousin’s – ‘My Chihuahua Bites‘ >

meet my clients

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

Here are a few of my clients: some are old, some are feisty, some are super sweet and some a bit crazy but so far they have taught me a whole lot. Most importantly that I’m right where I want to be.

(Their tongues are all out because Auntie Sandhya likes to make them run around – I’ve lost and kept off 7 pounds!)

Smell ya later!

BBQ With Friends: For no reason.

I bought this brand-new romper at a garage sale for 50 cents!

My wanna-be Kors watch ($60 from Citizen) that I’ve had for years now.

Fashion Lunch Two Weeks Ago: Have been meeting (almost) weekly with Austin Fashion Bloggers to talk shop. It’s been a blast!

BFF In Town: The lack of pictures is due to the fact that most of the time we were playing drinking games. Isn’t she GORGEOUS??

I’ve been obsessed with this lightweight French Connection dress I got at a resale shop for $1.99!

Friend’s Birthday: Too busy again to take pictures of the events but did get shots of the house they rented for the weekend.

The best part was this shower. there were three different places the water sprayed from and then a separate but included section for the huge bathtub. genus. i must have one.

D.C. To Visit Cousins:

the somanahallys take over d.c.

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Sorry for the lack of posts. Been crazy busy doing who-knows-what. I’ll make it up to you all (I know you’re struggling without your Sandhya fixes) next week with tons of pictures from D.C. and this past week.

For now, I am off to see these beautiful ladies, my cousins, for some quality fam-fam time in the Capitol:

(This was from Christmas here in Austin so it’s been far too long since we’ve all been together!)

If any of you are out in D.C. shoot me an email so we can meet up!

Have a wonderful weekend!

wedding 2 of 5 derailed by the big C

Monday, July 19th, 2010

I don’t think I know of a single person whose life has not been affected by cancer. I also don’t think I understand why this one medical demon has evaded a cure. With all of the things this world has accomplished, we’re still stopped by the miniscule cells in our body.

Didn’t make it to Wedding 2 of 5 this Sunday because my uncle who had been successfully (or so we thought) battling a rare form of cancer for 4 years is back in the hospital, waiting to meet with a specialist. Without too many details, things aren’t looking great but we always have hope.

We’ve lost others in our family to cancer. The hardest part is seeing my father so upset and attempting to comfort him.

But our family motto is “whatever is meant to happen will happen” and we know we can’t stop living.

I recently had these videos sent to me and they are perfect examples of folks who have never stopped living:

Found this through an article on CNN about a couple who has been together for 72 years!! They blog and tweet! This video is from their blog:

This is a video of a Holocaust survivor who is, along with his family, dancing to ‘I Will Survive’ at Auschwitz:
