We’ve got 8 fur babies in the house right now!

Bond & Shere Khan (our resident cats):

Jerry, Elaine & George (5 week old foster kittens):

Katara (our not-so-little resident puppy):

Cash & Romeo (7 week old foster pups – Husky & German Shepherd mix):

Our place is a ZOO and I love it! I also love that I married a man who enjoys it as much as I do and supports my habit.

too cool for school

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

The weather hasn’t stopped being annoying. So I’m doing the long-sleeves with shorts thing.  A boy in middle or highschool once told me he thought it was sexy when a girl wore long sleeves and shorts. This one is for you, Boy-I-Can’t-Remember.

Fun Fact: I wasn’t cool enough to actually wear shorts when I was IN school…I had Chicken Legs. And I was called Chicken Legs. Thanks for the calves, Kickboxer Sandhya.

Sweater :: Old Navy
Shorts :: Calvin Klein (so comfy! and versatile pattern)
Shoes :: From India
Necklace :: Vintage
Purse :: Michael Kors
Sunglasses :: Prada

This ‘statement necklace’ was something 10-year-old Sandhya picked up at a garage sale. Yes, even then, that’s what I was doing. Too bad it wasn’t really trendy until 17 or so years later.

Oh, what’s that you spy? A tattoo?

Another thing I was never cool enough for…until now it seems. Honestly, I’ve always wanted one and just been terrified of the pain. I finally found a reason that was worth it.

This one’s for you, Trigger.

India

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

We recently went to my (Bangalore) to introduce Bear to my family, do wedding shopping and of course to visit with all our friends and family. We bought all our clothes and jewelry for the wedding as well as all the stuff for the bridal party. I can’t wait to see everyone wearing it all.

Bear and I decided for our Bridal Shoot coming up (with the fabulous Nathan Russell Photography and his incredibly creative wife and my friend, Amy) that we would go ahead and wear our actual wedding and reception outfits. Head to toe. We paid so much for everything and it’s such a waste if we never wear it again…plus the day of will be so hectic we won’t have a chance for fancy pictures. But those won’t be revealed until January. In the meantime, here are some of my favorite experiences in India (getting sick multiple times is NOT included):

Spending time with my loving (and sometimes out of control) family

My talented cousin doing my mehendi

Hanging out with the animals on my dad’s family’s farm

Getting out of the city

The sweet party my parents threw for us

And my absolute favorite was when Gaurav and I bought this motorcycle for my cousins – they are such good kids and work/study so hard and really needed something more efficient than the bus to get around. It was an amazing experience to be able to help them.

Fiancé! (giggle)

WE’RE ENGAGED!!

Bear proposed to me on Sunday in a very sweet and romantic spot – one of the very first places we ever met (and the first place we remember ever speaking to each other) on the UT campus. He even made sure I was looking my best and someone was there to capture the moment:

I get internal tickles everytime I hear the word fiance/fiancee. And I introduced him as my boyfriend today. Oops!

I couldn’t be happier.

scavenger hunt

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Last night Bear led me on a scavenger hunt through our apartment, with wine refreshments to help me (please excuse the pajamas, I was in the midst of a Gilmore Girls marathon when this happened):

We’re going to New Zealand + Australia!! It’s my dream trip that I’ve never been able to take. I couldn’t be more thrilled!

We celebrated with drinks and Plucker’s. This is Bear’s “This Beer Belongs to the Coolest Boyfriend In the World” mug. Very appropriate.

I think it goes without saying that I have the most thoughtful and sweetest man. Kangaroos and kiwis, here we come!

my chihuahua bites

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Sometimes I feel a bit like Carrie, although I never dress nearly as well or crazy as her. I just mean that sometimes I feel like I’m wearing little outfits - she does rocker one day, peasant the next, etc. I’ve been trying to do this as well. Not so much trying to make characters out of myself but really step outside my comfort zones for clothes, be open-minded/brave and wear things I wouldn’t necessarily say are ‘me’.

This skirt is the perfect example – hadn’t worn it till yesterday because I wasn’t sure how really. (Elia was so kind to take my pictures for me yesterday at our bloggers’ lunch – thanks girl!) And please ignore the hair – I got lazy!

The skirt is from the 80′s maybe? It was $1.99 at a resale shop; Top is actually a dress from Old Navy bought way back when; Necklace was $2 at a garage sale, Shoes were about the same at a thrift store; Belt (which is dark brown and gold) was mere cents at Goodwill.

Another example of my rebellion (that you can’t really tell from the pictures) is that I’m wearing this color on my hands. I never wear crazy colors on my hands, usually reserve them for the toesies. But I love it! It’s called “My Chihuahua Bites” from OPI.

This weekend will be full of usual but with the exciting task of getting ready to bring home the newest member of our family – Trigger! Our long-haired German Shepherd Dog puppy will hopefully come home with us next week!! Will keep you all updated and of course will inundate you with pictures.

Have a blessed weekend!

meet my clients

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

Here are a few of my clients: some are old, some are feisty, some are super sweet and some a bit crazy but so far they have taught me a whole lot. Most importantly that I’m right where I want to be.

(Their tongues are all out because Auntie Sandhya likes to make them run around – I’ve lost and kept off 7 pounds!)

Smell ya later!
